Blending folk, Americana, and indie rock, this band crafts music rich in emotional depth and intimate storytelling. As the band embarked on their journey with a label, Fred & Augustus collaborated with both the artist and label team to ideate content, build assets that aligned with the song and album messaging, and manage the overall social media calendar. Our role also included coaching the artist on effectively using social media and developing their own strategies, ensuring a cohesive and impactful rollout.
A longer-term transition in strategy away from focusing on editorial support and towards algorithmic-driven discovery presented a unique set of challenges, such as a short-term impacts on song listenership within their genre. With these challenges, it became increasingly important for the band to create engaging content that aligned with their messaging and effectively drove fans old and new to stream their music on DSPs. Additionally, the band needed guidance around social media best practices for releases, creating and uploading content, managing their social media community, and building relationships to foster loyalty—all aimed at enhancing their streaming performance.
Fred & Augustus worked closely with the artist to refine their content strategy, aligning it with their artistic vision and the shift from editorial playlist support to an algorithm-driven approach. We developed a consistent narrative that resonated with their audience and effectively bridged the gap between content and music. To address the challenges of moving away from editorial support, we created a Social Media Calendar and developed engaging assets designed to drive fans to DSPs and boost streaming.
Our approach included comprehensive coaching on content creation, posting, and utilizing platform tools to maximize visibility. We guided the band through creative concept ideation and aligned their efforts with label objectives, using song previews on TikTok and YouTube to enhance awareness and promote album pre-saves. Additionally, we leveraged platform features like YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and interactive tools such as Instagram Q&A stickers and YouTube Community posts. By implementing these targeted strategies and maintaining a vertical-forward approach, Fred & Augustus helped the band navigate the transition effectively, driving engagement and converting followers into active listeners while ensuring a cohesive and impactful rollout.
